Grass and tape on paper
2010
The works of Herbarium Proprius (Proprius: Latin; own, particular, characteristic)
consists of tufts of grass mounted on paper. By bending, folding and twisting the
individual straws and blades form geometric patterns. These structures transform
the grasses from common organic to constructed, theoretical shapes that seem
unnatural and invented. They appear like fictive plant species and pose questions
on the origin, process and decision making of evolution. The compositions of the
grass on the paper are reaction to the ratio to the used paper size. They refer to
the problematic of showing a plant in its life-size and at the same time in a predefined
paper format.
